Carter walked forwards and jumped off the table, landing on all fours, looking like Tarzan. The chain around his neck thumping lightly. His orange hair flying back with the jump. He stood up slowly, his jaw cracking. He was angry enough, and he could feel the thick energy swelling inside him. It was a mixture of hate and beast, a monster about to be unlocked. Through many days at Circo he had been able to contain, keep it chained up, but today- well he could make an exception. When he came to the circus it had taken a while to learn his place, and still he flipped tents every once in a while, but he had built a reputation. At first he was laughed and stared at, but after winning a few fights, respect. The crowd erupted into excited calls and cheers. He looked to the staff member he had grown well to know, and respect. She had always been calm, she had handled him like a person, not a thing. He could feel the twitch of a side-smile form, revealing even more pointed teeth. "Wasn't planning on. Didn't think I'd have to take the trash out twice tonight though." He stepped forward until he was in front of the brothers. He kind of looked over at Aveira with a "oh my god really" look. He couldn't believe there were two of them, in one! He honestly felt pity that the other brother had to be lugged around by this ass. Suddenly a tray crashed into his head. He hasn't seen it coming fast enough, and contents spilled down his chest and face. He stood there dripping in liquid of who knows what. The one twin spat insult after insult, none of which Carter even comprehended. The humiliation rising in his chest. Turning his head to the side, carter roared a threatening, and thundering roar. It echoed off the walls, and his hand formed a fist. He sent it flying at the boy's face orange fur curled. "Think you can walk into this place and own it?!? Carter pulled back and with the other hand, went to swing an unsheathed, clawed hand to rake down the shirt of the boy who had stomped into the dinner place. He didn't mind drawing blood.[/blockquote]

Ooh, this cat was going to be fun! He looked to the assembled kids who were classically chanting 'Fight! Fight! Fight!'. Those kids are in for a real treat, thought Cyril. If he had confidence, he could accomplish anything. Unfortunately, Cyril's confidence was often times blown out of proportion and morphed into sheer arrogance. The boy had skills, sure. But he was definitely biting off more than he could chew. And Lyric knew this.
The parasitic brother nearly pissed himself when Carter roared. It wasn't even a humanly cry of frustration. That roar was a full on, animalistic, prehistoric, psychopathic expression of raw wrath. Lyric wanted none of it, but would his brother listen to him? No. He was too far gone. Lyric, despite being fairly courageous, was cowering behind his brother almost whimpering. That whimper turned into utter horror when Carter threw a punch towards Cyril. Lucky for him, he had reacted just in the right time to shield his face with this fore-arms, which nearly bruised on contact. Better he have agonized limbs than a broken face. Unfortunately, the second blow wasn't as favorable to him.
Cyril got too close to the tiger, who, out of vengeance from his humiliation, clawed his hospital donated shirt. Lyric yelped as Cyril winced when the claws skimmed the surface of his flesh. Cyril then immediately ripped off the rest of the shirt to reveal a surprisingly well built body. He wasn't buff, but the kid sure gave his body some training. His pale fingers traced over the four dagger rakes, running his fingers over the nasty injury. He sucked up a cry of pain as he observed the blood and stated a retaliation. "Oh, I don't think. If I thought I wouldn't be looking into the eyes of a beast right now. I only know things, Carter. And I know I own this place." His fog colored eyes snapped back up to reveal a raging thunderstorm. He then threw his messenger bag to the ground and proceeded to take a few steps back. After a good few feet he proceeded to charge forward, the limp in his walk non existent in his sprint. He gained enough momentum to leap over Carter, giving him the upper hand as he leaped behind him. Without a moment to spare he pivoted on the ball of his foot to face his backside. The dominant twin pushed past himself and his brother to execute a basic round house kick, honed in on Carter's skull. Not concentrating on whether or not it did damage, he immediately jumped backwards after learning what happens if he gets too close to the kitty.
Wiping the sweat off of his head with his damaged arms Cyril looked straight into Carter's eyes. "C'mon pussycat. Ya gotta give me more than just a cool-ass chest scar." ((Note- I've never role-played a real fight before, so please tell me if I'm using powerplay))

►You have to let it in
You don't bite your tongue off
When did scars become cool? The thought jumped to Carter's mind the moment the boy spoke it. His mind raced with power, the beast fully out of his cage. The twin blocked his punch, so he had basic martial arts skill, well everyone needed a hunting tactic. The roundhouse kick, which was aimed at his skull, he rather took it to the side. Explosive pain skyrocketed up Carter's side, but he refused to bow for this stupid boy. The other twin looked like he was in just as much pain as he was right now, it was sheer selfishness to drag a brother into your mess, especially when you were attached. He needed to end this fight quickly- put this punk-ass in place.
An idea had been forming, and it was time to put it in action. Raising his head he almost started cooing, but it got louder into a growl. It was strange in the middle of a fierce duel, to see him stop and raise his mouth to the celling. "Yes, I am a beast. It's what makes me so terribly pretty."
|
He snarled through gritted teeth, and slowly backed away towards the table, where he jumped up backwards, a feeling of pain riding up his side. He could hold it together, he had been through worse. "If you're going to run this place- I guess you would need to know a few things" Oh, Carter was stalling, stalling well. Suddenly the door banged open and in the doorway, three tigers shoved their way through. Great, beautiful, and strong tigers. Their coats gleamed with care, thick muscles rippled under the skin, and yellow teeth were showing under their snarling snouts. Carter kneeled on the table, bouncing on his feet, one furry knuckle on the table. In a few gestures the tigers slowly started to circle the area. Their tails flicked back and forth, they just seemed to obey Carter, as simple as that. Oh, they jumped on the tables to finish their prowl, and each circle become a second smaller, closing the boys in. "See? Now no one will escape, they listen to me boy. I can have them rip your body to shreds, shame for your brother- but I don't think they are going to listen to you too". Of coarse, Carter would never do that, he could make him think he was being attacked though. "Now, I'm morphed with a Smilodon, and I could give you my backstory, but I'd hate to bore you." With a slide the fangs slid down to their full extent below his jaw and chin. "We aren't very fast, and due to the extra weight in the skull, we can't bite as fast." Carter was giving his weaknesses away, luring him in. He was making him seem like he was stupid. "So we use to element of strength and surprise. Carter leaped off the table, and made to plummet into the boys shoulder. "We use these suckers to help us stay on for the ride. Carter then went to sink his claws fully into the boy's skin, making him like a kid caught in a thorn bush, you tried to rip it off but you couldn't. "Then we execute the prey as fast possible to avoid struggle, did you know our jaws can turn at a 90 degree angle?" Carter whispered this into his ear as he made to bring the boy down. The tigers had made the circle incredibly tight. He raised his head, his jaw opening wider and wider and went to slam the teeth down into his neck. He would stop when he came to the neck however, he just wanted to bruise the boy's neck, a reminder. However, to anyone looking it appeared like he would murder the boy. Cyril had nearly grinned when his attack hit. It didn't damage the area he had intended, but it was enough for Carter to receive a bit of agony. His victory was short lived, however, as Carter leaped upon the table and yowled loud enough for both of the twins to cover their ears. Cyril was dazed by the ringing in them long enough to not realize that Carter had been taunting them. Before he had the chance to leap up and gain an opening through his obvious stalling, both of the boys were in for a shock.
The cafeteria doors slammed open which caused the two to look over simultaneously at them. Tigers. He had summoned freaking tigers. Cyril's eyes widened as Lyric yelped in absolute horror. He turned to shake his dominant brother, his hands trembling. "O-okay Cyril this has gone f-far enough please let's just get out of here please...." Lyric stammered with an urgent tone. Despite Carter's attempts at scaring him it ultimately proved to no avail. Instead, his mind translated the threat into something else.
"You f*cking cheap-ass sunnava b*tch!" Cyril yelled at him, outraged that he got outside help. Before he could have the chance to swing back at him, a thought made an epiphany strike through his head: he had no chance against this cat. He didn't have any powers to communicate with other animals. He didn't have super strength or genetically altered aid. While the majority of Carter's strength had been chemically synthesized, it still gave him the upper hand. Cyril was just a normal human boy with his strength lying in his handicap.
His mind snapped out of his thoughts as the tigers encased the boys in a ring of no escape. Cyril refused to get distracted by the mighty beasts. Both him and his brother looked up as Carter released saber-like fangs. Lyric, far beyond a comprehensive thought, trembled as he mumbled to Cyril "He's just full of surprised, isn't he?" But before that, Carter taunted something about ripping the two to shreds. Oh, no. This was between Cyril and Carter. Well, technically it was. As selfish as the battle was that Cyril was pretty much ignorant to the fact that both his brother and himself shared the base of their spine , Carter was absolutely NOT going to bring him up in his threats.
"You leave Lyric out of this you little sh*t." Cyril growled to him, his fists clenching to his sides. As the pattern went, something occurred before he could strike back. Unfortunately, this time, he was struck down to the ground. The great tiger had incidentally thrown Lyric in the mix as he was hiding behind Cyril. His head and body slammed against the ground, and, since his body was not meant to bend a certain angle, he hit his weak point- his lower back. Lyric cried out in pain as he rolled over. Cyril tried to help him but was quickly suppressed by the feeling of needles exerted by an immense force on his shoulders. Carter's claws sunk into his flesh the more he struggled, which sent out a screech of pain. He couldn't attack him, but he could hold out as much as possible. "Let go of me!" Cyril yelled at him, jerking his shoulders despite his pain. He felt his tension release slightly from his shoulders as he bent down to whisper a threat. Now was his chance.
He felt Carter's hot breath cling to his neck as he lowered the sabers onto him. A soft gulp came from his throat as he felt the fangs poke through him slightly, only enough to cause a bruise. "ALRIGHT!" Cyril yelled, twisting both him and his injured brother the opposite direction of the bite. As soon as he did he hopped to his feet and jumped a few feet back to face the prehistoric man.
It was over. Neither his brother nor him could take in anymore. Cyril carefully wrapped his arms around his brother to support his back from the injury. His shoulders and chest now were splattered with blood and bruises lined his neck. Not only was his blood draining but his twin's was as well. The crowd looked at him and snickered at the humiliation. Well, he was an idiot for causing something in the first place. Short fight, but he had underestimated the cat severely. While he was assuming house cat, it turned out he was made of a dangerous historical beast. Cyril closed his eyes, sighed, and shortly opened them back up. "You win."

Now he got it. Though Aveira honestly doubted the lesson would sink in with one session, Cyril was beginning to learn. She stepped forward, unafraid of the tigers Carter had called to him. "Unless you want time in jail, I suggest everyone who is not Carter or Cyril and Lyric leave the mess hall. Now." She didn't raise her voice this time. She knew she would be obeyed. Already some of the oddities were running out, knowing better than to make the head of security ask twice. And yet, she did not step between the two boys. She knew better than that. The fight had ended, but there was no telling how the relationship between the two would respond.
Either Cyril and Carter were about to become the best of friends, or the bitterest of rivals.
And so she stayed silent, waiting for the dice to fall.

►You have to let it in
You don't bite your tongue off
Carter knew when it was time to back off. He could hear the calls of pain and screams of terror, he knew he couldn't go any further. Deep inside of him- he wanted to. He wanted to rip the prey's neck off. Though instead he sheathed his claws feeling blood deep down his fur, and he sheathed his teeth, feeling the suction of bringing them up. He rolled off the boy's knowing this fight had turned dirty. In words of a different, and finger gesturing the tigers released their circle and pushed through the doors growling with annoyance. "Get going you old scrap of meat."
|
Carter waved his hand. "Yes, I'll get you something to chew on later just don't tell the ringmaster I thought you how to open your cage." The tiger leaped away satisfied. Carter rolled up into a sitting position and groaned. The beast inside of him slowly went back into the cage and locked itself in, and with every high there is a low. A splitting headache started to pound like a drum and Carter for up into two feet, wincing as pain went up his side. A wave of depression and despair followed the feeling of power, as it always did. He was not just a sick, tested on, freak. He had never felt older. Who knows, with all the testing his lifeline probably was cut off a bunch of years. No one could live that long with this much screw up in the body. He felt tired- and hungry. "Nobody won today." Carter said dully, as he moved to the table bench. Even if he had gotten the upper hand, it had gotten dirty. "Everything I am cost me." He was going to finish with "my sanity". He stood up and went behind the fireplace where the kitchen was. The chefs had fled the place a while ago, when the tigers had joined in. Going through the swinging doors, Carter stumbled over to the huge, metal sink. He turned up the hot water and started filling a loose cleaning bucket. He knew he had to do this, as much as he didn't want to. He rubbed a cloth over his face and shoulders, cleaning off the blood, and threw in extra in the bucket. Carter slung his cloth over his shoulder. Picking it up he moved out of the kitchen and over to the boys. He dropped the bucket, where it sloshed a bit over the edge. "Here, clean up." He wondered why Averia hadn't stepped in, had she known this would happen? Would they all be dragged to the Ringmaster's office. "You have spirit. We need spirit." He said in a very tired, but still complementing voice. A tension rose between Cyril and the cat boy as he waited to see if Carter was going to let him off so easily. His worn irises discreetly glanced over to the tigers that had begun to exit the building. Aveira had even dispersed the spectators for them, which left the three-and-a-half of them alone. The strain in his shoulders eased as Carter exited, saying that the battle was neutral. He would have said something, but Carter had left for the kitchen. He would be back, though. That was certain.
As natural, Cyril limped to a table, the energy that had powered him to push past his limitations gone. He sat on the bench and looked to see the obvious pain in his brother's eyes. Cyril had attempted to say something to him but his brother hushed him as he struggled in pain to reach for their bag. Lyric had pulled out a small container of ibuprofen and poured out a few on his hand. He saw an unopened water bottle that one of the oddities had left behind and snatched it up. The amount of white pills in his hand were three more than the suggestive amount. Before anybody could see he popped in the pills and downed the water. After rubbing the small of his back for a few seconds he finally returned to his normal pleasant state. "I'm fine now Cy." A ginger smile had accompanied the assurance.
Before Cyril could get worried about him the catman had returned from the kitchen. He stood up and pretended like he wasn't in excruciating pain as he bent down to grasp the cloth soaked with water. "Thanks." Cyril mumbled stoically as he cleansed himself. An audible sharp exhale sounded each time he ran the cloth over the affected body parts. After a few minutes of cleaning he threw the towel back into the water, his stare back on Carter.
"Spirit? If that's what you call dumb-assity, then sure. Let's go with that." Cyril stated without much emotion. He wasn't regretting his choice, no. The fight was still fun for him until Carter had gotten really serious. "Well, on any case that was an interesting lil scrap. I shouldn't have caused something on the account of the delicate one, but hey, it was just as much as my right to do as I please for my share of our body." He looked over to his brother and whispered 'I'm really sorry' to him, so low that it was near impossible to hear. Lyric just replied with a small smile as he was sprawled loosely off of his side. Cyril then diverted his attention off of him to the cat, his eyes serious once more. "I hope you're aware that I would have crushed you if you were a regular person. Really sh*tty of you to bring out your cats though. Maybe that's why you're mutated with a typa pussy." Hey, the battle was over, but that didn't mean Cyril still couldn't be an ass about it. He only had to be a good sport for so long.

Aveira stepped forward now. First she went to Carter. She could not touch his skin, could not give him the comfort he needed, but she had learned a way around that. She rested her hand on his arm, knowing the fur would protect him from her power. And hopefully it would give him the comfort he needed after a fall. "You did extremely well controlling yourself Carter. I am very proud of you. You won't be punished, for this or the fight before." She really was proud of him. Sure, maybe it was because of the bond he once shared with Yuzki, and the one he now shared with PJ, but Averia liked the boy. She really did. He had his problems, but he was working through them. Circo wouldn't be the same without the chaos he caused.
And now to deal with Cyril and Lyric. She walked over to the twins. "You are very spirited Cyril. And very passionate. You just need to learn how to direct it. And Circo will help you with that. Do you need a first aide kit? I'm sure there is one in the kitchen." And she would go get it, if the boys really needed it. Carter had amazing strength, and sometimes he went a little too far. He would not be blamed though. Just like Cyril, Carter had problems that he needed to address. And he was doing it. He was a success story.

You don't bite your tongue off
Carter looked up at Aveira with blazing amber eyes, he didn't speak right away, but a silent signal was being passed of gratitude. He knew how much of a risk it was for her touch her, and he was grateful for her power in the circus. "Thank you Aveira."
|
His voice was serious and his face was hard, but he truly meant those words, as simple as they were. He took the cloth on his shoulder and wiped the sweat off his face, sitting at the table again. Carter's head snapped around over to Cyril who was sitting a bit further away. "That's the point, you're with the big kids now. There is no 'regular' here, not anymore. There are worse threats than a few claw marks if you pick fights with everyone." He was glad he was just in "normal Carter mode". For once, he was just being himself, a rather serious, hardened boy, but one that still cared. He shrugged at the comment about the tigers. "They are as much a part of me as they are your brother." He had grown a lot in the last years or so at Circo, many things had changed here. Carter looked over at the half-finished plates. Cater took a fork and stabbed a piece of stake and ripped a chunk off with his teeth, no time for knives. Great, they were getting all preachy. Man, Carter really buttered up the staff here, didn't he? As the praise poured out for him for not killing the boy instead of not encouraging the battle at all, Cyril rolled his eyes. He had blanked out his own mind as he leaned against a support beam. That was, until he heard his own name.
Spirited? Yeah, for some reason the unanimous agreement between the two people still wasn't enough to convince him. Passionate... Well, maybe. He was commissioned by his mother and by himself that he was the sole caretaker of his brother. He knew he would go to the ends of the earth to protect him, and would be the only friend he had that would absolutely never leave him. Sure, he was passionate. Only to people that were worth his time. "I dunno what you mean by that, but if that's what you want to believe, then knock yourself out" He shrugged it off to her. Maybe there was a decent boy underneath the hellish exterior. No, there definitely was. It didn't come out around certain people, it isn't a duel personality, it isn't his 'secret side'. He naturally is a good boy. He likes putting on a tough guy exterior for sh*ts and giggles. His passion though is convoluted with his natural sense of aggression. His true self is the foundation of half his actions and behaviors. He just gets a bit too zealous about how he feels and what he stands for. Maybe if he had a chance to own the place, maybe his brother wouldn't be taunted and will be given respect without him having to lift a finger. Who knows. "Oh, and that'd be great. It's startin to sting."
When Carter started to talk, Cyril simply huffed. Regular. He was regular. He just looked different. "Depends on what you call regular." At that moment, Lyric snaked forward, the effects of the pain killers starting to seize up his mind.
"Cy and I are not normal in a societal stance. Nobody here is, or so I've heard. If looked at through a paranormal or supernatural stance, we're just as ordinary as the people we pass on the streets. You two, and many others, are not. In genetic and spiritual nature, we are human." Lyric spoke, but Cyril knew he was just rambling. He sighed, preparing himself to deliver an abridged version of his speech.
"Basically we are too normal to fit in this society but too much of an outcast to live on the streets."
Lyric nodded, feeling as if his brother had explained what was on his fuzzy mind a bit better. "It's like we're stuck in an oddity limbo." At the thought of it, it was true. Though many here had regretted their gifts and unusual mutations, it seemed that many were renowned here for them. Aveira's gift had brought its own set of problems as well as gave her a crucial tool she could use in her job. Carter had amazing strength and a feral side that could be of use. Even Yuzki being a vampire proved to be handy with his own speed. All of these gifts brought curses, but maybe it was in Cyril's still childish mind that these were really cool and worth the possession despite their side effects. These powers proved to have both cons and pros. For the twins, it seemed like their body was strictly neutral, well besides the obvious limitations that they've already come accustomed to. They were strictly neutral. Nothing they are cursed with, nothing that sets them apart. Maybe that in its own was their downfall here. Who knows.
Cyril looked back up after a few moments of thinking. He shook his head and ran a hand through his hair. "Sorry. Went on a tangent there. And yeah, I think I've learned my lesson. Maybe. Until somebody pisses me off again. One day I'll find somebody I can dominate here. It'll help with my own psychology. If I'm not gonna be that loser who picked the fight with the cat boy by tomorrow, maybe I'll try to get someone's respect. Who knows." Cyril muttered bluntly, stretching out his back despite the pain in his shoulders.
Despite Cyril's sudden interest-loss brought out by his desire for food, he still heard Carter saying something about the tigers. Just apart of him as his brother? Psh, sure. Cyril attempted to not get fired up by Carter's assumption. They weren't stuck to him, splitting his body's nutrients to feed an entire second one. "Huh. Strange they just left the building without a second thought. Maybe you mean emotion, because you'd be an idiot to say that you and your cats share a physical bond." Was it because they shared DNA? Eh, who knows. Cyril was too simple to figure that out himself.

Oddly, Aveira didn't find Cyril as annoying anymore. Maybe it was because she had seen his limits now, knew that he wouldn't really hurt his brother. She had honestly been worried about that. Besides, he had just taken a huge humility check. Hopefully this lesson would stay with him. "It's true that we don't have anyone like you and Lyric, but maybe now we will." It really depended on if anyone else like them needed their help, and whether or not Cyril and Lyric would get themselves killed.
And besides, they didn't want Circo to split into two camps, the more normals and the freaks. It was hard enough keeping the different freaks together. She would know. Personal experience and all that.
And so Aveira vanished into the kitchen, searching for the first aide kit. "If you want to eat something warm, feel free to come warm it up! But if you burn the building down I will kill you." She called. She wouldn't, but they knew she was serious at least.

►You have to let it in
You don't bite your tongue off
Carter's ears flattened against his head and he growled again, ripping off another chunk of meat. Did they ever stop talking? He was coming close to waking out for the night, they weren't his problem. He shrugged again, not looking at them, but studying the meat on his fork. "You will find the rest of us feel a bit the same way." He snapped up another bite. He did shift to face them, he could hear a twinge of sorrow in the twin's voice. They felt they didn't belong here, the place where everyone belonged. He would keep a watch for them, he could possibly show them the many wonders here. "This is a chance for you to have a new beginning." Carter said simply as if that solved everything. Which it didn't- but maybe they would understand.
Carter shrugged again, he was found that a lot now. It basically stopped him from arguing with the twins. "Huh. Strange they just left the building without a second thought. Maybe you mean emotion, because you'd be an idiot to say that you and your cats share a physical bond." The words were spoken blandly, and Carter's eyes flashed into their bright amber light. "Yeah whatever."
|
He said standing up and stretching, wincing at the bruising up his side. That would be there for a few days. His curiosity was piped up with his curiosity with the "domination" part. Well sure, he could beat up many freaks here. Not everyone had strength, though that probably wouldn't be a great idea either. Hm, did Carter not like them? Lyric couldn't imagine why he would. His thoughts were taken off of him however as Aveira said something. Will the two actually make an imprint on the circus, or will they just be condemned to a life of invisibility? Cyril nodded at Averia, hoping that they would one day gain a form of acceptance. "Thanks. Maybe we might get a cool-ass gifted on our side." Well, the could only hope. "I mean, with my obvious charisma, it won't be too hard to win somebody over." Cyril then mock laughed at his own false arrogance. His ego had deflated a little bit following the fight.
At the mention of food, Cyril and Lyric both realized that the fight not only postponed their dinner but increased their appetite. Though somewhat off put by Aveira's 'threat', Cyril brushed it off. He was too hungry to be concerned. "Good, I'm hungry as hell." He stood up slowly on uneven feet. Then, much like a crippled zombie, staggered forward with choppy steps. He led himself and his brother forward to the kitchen at an abnormally slow pace. He looked to Carter through his trek, his interest in him growing.
"So Carter, mind sharing how you got to be like that or is that a touchy subject?" Following the question the sound of an opening and slammed shut refrigerator was heard. Clanking dishes led to the beeps of a microwave as Cyril looked over a gateway in the wall that led to the dining area. "Where ya from, anyway? We're from all the way up in New Hampshire." He stated blandly just as he retreated his head to look at the finished microwave. After a few minutes of audible fumbling the forked brothers returned with a plate each. Even in their taste pallets the two varied immensely. While Lyric had found freshly cooked salmon and some vegetables, Cyril's plate was teeming with all sorts of low quality, deep fried meat. "So goddamn glad I don't gotta eat dried up bread anymore." He laughed softly as he threw the plate on the table, Lyric following suit in a more gentle fashion. "Free food for exploiting ourselves doesn't seem like a bad idea after all." He then turned to Carter and Aveira with one last question. "I'm assuming you work with tigers n stuff. What do you guys think we could do here?"

"Well, you said that you couldn't do hard work for your brother's sake." Aveira said softly. She had found the first aide kit, and set it beside their plates for when they decided to use it. Hopefully they actually would. Far too many Oddities thought they were invincible. And true, some were, but most ended up in the infirmary with infected injuries and bones that had been broken for days. They were stupid. Sometimes she very much wanted to hurt them, truly hurt them.
But no. Aveira was a good girl. She didn't listen to those dark thoughts. "And your brother seems extremely smart. What I'm thinking, at least until you find something else, you could do odd jobs around the circus. Don't worry about it. Everyone here finds their place, and you'll find it before the end of the week."

Carter felt his body relax as they relaxed, their tones changing. He really was glad he didn't have to shed anymore blood tonight. Carter snorted at Cyril's arrogance through the meat he was chewing on. Carter could easily eat a cooked piece of meat as he could eat a raw animal, his body was a lot more tolerable to those type of foods. He rarely ate vegetables or fruit, he didn't need it for energy. He leaned back, kicking up his feet, or furry paws on the next bench over, and put his shoulders up behind him. It was quiet now that everyone had left. The night time had fallen, and crickets chirped chorus and cicadas hissed in the mixture. A few figures moved in and out outside, going to night events or headed to dorms, to Carter he could see every detail in the dark. He could see what they were wearing, to the expressions on their faces, but to someone else they would be mere shadows.
"So Carter, mind sharing how you got to be like that or is that a touchy subject?" Carter looked off to the side, his eyes dilating in the distance. He was silent for a moment. He wanted to say 'I don't want to talk about it' more than anything, his instinct urged himself to say it, but he didn't. He ran a hand through his hair and looked up with a softer, sadder look in his eye- a small half-smile on his face. "Nah- it's fine. He said waving them off as they went to get food. " I am from New York." He murmured softly. "I was thirteen. I was looking for food for my family. Landlords weren't exactly landlords, we were run by gangs who took over food and made it a shortage for the rest of us."He said with a flush of red to the face, embarrassment prickling with the fact his family was so deep in poverty. "I thought it was just a normal building, an office building, so I snuck in. Once inside I don't remember much except for the men in white coats, and blacking out. I woke up in a cage in a room with cages like the one I was in. Well- that was my life for five years." His words were still soft and quiet. "Sometimes they didn't sedate me, so I could feel them ripping me apart to twist me the way they wanted. These aren't my original eyes, and my normal ears are gone." He hoped that would be explanation enough. " I was eventually rescued by the Ringmaster but about five years had passed. Let's say I wasn't acting like this when I first came here." Carter said with a small smile, and took another bite, he decided to finish there. If they wanted more detail, they could come and talk to him later with details. There had been so many different surges and injections he often lost track.
"Yep- I work with the tigers, have a nice part in the show." He looked over to Aveira when she mentioned about odd-jobs and such. "I'm sure if you wanted to preform you could find something, there are many acts or side-shows. Depends what you comfortable with." Carter murmured, looking at the conjoined twins.
