Here is the master guide to the four classifications of the occupations here. Higher up staff cannot have a performance, performers cannot be higher up staff unless they are a talent adviser, sideshow performers can have minor technical responsibilities, et cetera. Please contact an admin if there are any questions. Exceptions will be considered, but your persuasion must be concrete.
* Classes of staff- (Higher up officials can have combined jobs) Respected staff is allowed cars and such, and are able to leave whenever/where ever they want. Trust is gained through the privileged ascending ranks.
Sentry- Primarily stays at the Circo, watches over the circus and its citizens. Duties include Night/Day street patrol, law enforcement, and keeping the peace
Salvager- Goes out to obtain potential citizens. Duties include strong connections to the outside world, must have patience and kindness, must be willing to get involved physically if riots break out, must have high trust, committed members of this category are rarely at the circo for extended periods of time (constantly out and about).
Secret service- Like the sentries, but less obvious. They pretty much act as snitches and are generally anonymous.
Talent advisers- This class behaves as a sorter to the acts or jobs that best suits an individual freak. Their job includes counseling, personal work, and training in the field. They often hold classes and must be well rounded in their skills. They can act as a choreographer as well as a personal trainer.
Sorted Leaders- These freaks are the top of their category in the field they were assigned/requested. Examples of these include head costumer, school teacher, animal manager, et cetera. Workers in these fields
Personal guards- The highest rank- one who works personally with the Master. It’s more than just a glorified butler (although that can happen…). These watch after the ringmaster, though usually only one serves as his personal assistant. There is an air of mystery to their exact occupation.
Oddity sorting- After it has been decided that a oddity desires to move in, they will be sent to a counselor, who will then give them a strong recommendation as to what they want to be. The freaks do not have to follow this suggestion, but it is what their counselor feels suits them best. Sideshow oddities are granted the ability to combine tech crew positions, but usually only work part-time for them.
Original Idea-Have an idea for a staff class that hasn't been named? Swing it by us! Be sure to give a full, detailed description as to what the do and where they do it.
* Performer- There are many options to this, so depending on one’s skill and capabilities their options vary. Please refer to the performance list for a list of acts
* Sideshow- This category is for acts before performances, usually occurring around the fairground as a pre-main attraction excitement booster. They are given the opportunity to personally interact with their audience, periodically demonstrating themselves in a meet and greet fashion. These oddities are placed here if they do not wish to actively perform a feat/are not able to do so, but still wish for interaction. They can be combined with everything else besides the main performance, for they usually present themselves before the main show.
-Oddities that are deformed/ mutated welcome in others, and are always outside on a shift to entertain. They do not need to perform anything (Think amusement park mascots)
-Oddities that have a gift that produces an abnormality (shape shifting) work on scheduled performances outside of the big top. Every so often, on a posted shift, they will perform a staged act (like a show). Though these acts require a lot more effort than the meet and greets, they will have a shorter shift and more frequent breaks.
-Final show is cast just before performances in a tent beside the big top. Due to its nature, children under the age of 18 are not allowed entrance.
* Tech Crew- For those who are camera shy or prefer to work behind the scene, the jobs are as follows:
Lighting/Special effects- These oddities make sure the entire production runs smoothly.
Stage design- These oddities only attend the actual performance if they choose to, but will not actively participate in it. They do as the title suggests by creating props and retouching existing sets. Can be combined with a regular act.
Costuming/Makeup- These oddities help others get ready for their big show. The costuming boutique is the headquarters for these workers. Can be combined with a regular act
Concessions- Before and during the show, these freaks feed their customers and make sure that they rake in extra money. Occupations associated are stand running and personal catering during the show.
Animal caretakers- These oddities work, train, and care for the animals that come in. They clean their stalls, feed them, and make sure they can make them as satisfied as possible. They don’t necessarily need to be tamers, but must make sure that those who are do the job right. These can be combined with tamers, however.
Labor Crew- These oddities are responsible for pitching up the tent and making sure that the fairground is in peak condition. They do light chores during their stay at the performance area, and in return are given VIP status to do as they please there, just as long as they are acting under conduct. At home they are given the most chores but are also given access to areas in which other freaks are rarely permitted to go. The longer time goes on and the more trust they receive, the more responsibility they are given.
