Post by TALLULAH SAMARAS on Jul 27, 2013 11:21:13 GMT -5
Full name: Tallulah Kai Samaras
Nickname: Talli, Kai, Lulu. She just really likes cute sounding names.
DOB/Age: Her age is well above four centuries, though she appears and acts to be around seventeen.
Gender: She is most definitely a female.
Oddity: Mythical creature- Subaquatic siren: Though the title siren is associated with beautiful merfolk that posses an enchanting yet lethal singing voice, Tallulah is almost the exact opposite of the depicted creature. Her humanoid form is stitched together with different sea creature parts; ranging from octopus tentacles to shark fins to even dolphin-like rubbery skin. She does keep the alluring singing voice that is signature to her species to prove that there is at least some typical siren in her.
Abilities:
HER VOICE
As stated, Tallulah can sing a song that can captivate the most stoic hearted of people. She cannot sing outside of a lullaby/melodic range, however.
UNDERWATER/ABOVE WATER BREATHING
Though she does need to make sure her gills are covered by a water pouch at all times she can breathe in oxygen just fine. She does have to use this system unfortunately under fresh water, much like a normal human. She has only been built for the salty stuff.
ADVANCED SWIMMER
Well, duh.
AQUATIC CREATURE EMPATHY
Her final ability is that of what many call 'fish talk'. She has a general understanding of sea and fresh water creatures. She can't talk to them but she appears to know what's going on in their minds.
Appearance: (picture to come soon) Tallulah is pretty much 60/40 on aquatic creature/human ratio. Standing around 5'7", Tallulah is covered head to toe in pale silver colored dolphin-vinyl skin. On her cheeks, elbows, forearms, knee caps, sides, and shoulders are copper colored scales and patches that almost seem to serve as freckles. Betwixt her shoulders and on her calves are shark-like fins, both large and flimsy. Similar to these are retractable triangular fins that shoot from her forearms, which conveniently fold enough to make it seem like there are dagger-like blades coming from her elbows. These fins are the same pale copper color as her patches. Both her hands and feet have been shaped into almost fin-like appendages to aid in swimming. Her curvy body's sides posses three large slits, which appear to be smooth-sliced flaps that serve as her gills. Perhaps her most striking feature is her 'hair', which is truly just tentacles that appear to be hair and reach to her mid back. Though starting in a rusty color, they eventually graduate into metallic gold. This gold is also prevalent within her eyes, changing in intensity whenever she is in her rightful environment. When on dry land, both her irises and pupils are solid black, accenting the large almond shape her eyes possess. Not only does her face possess elvish features but her 'ears' do as well. Half finned and half pointed, these prick up at an ascending angle and are somewhat sensitive. Her appearance is generally regal yet disgustingly inhuman all the same.
Attire: Tallulah pretty much wears whatever she find around. She prefers loose flowing garments such as baggy shirts with a tank top underneath. She hates pants, so expect to find her in just a bikini bottom. The only exception of her wearing pants is whenever it's frigid outside. She will wear a parka and probably the most thick pants out there. Winter clothes to her are awesome... Which, coming from a tropical creature, makes no sense.
Detailed personality: Unknown to her, Tallulah unfortunately disgraces her species' regal and refined nature by being as loud and boisterous as possible. It is rare to see her shut up due to the fact that her mouth runs a mile a minute. She has a very short attention span in conversation and will often sidetrack to something completely unrelated and ludicrous. It is also rare to see her sit down and listen as she becomes to pre-occupied in pretty much running around in circles. She does have some really strange mannerisms, such as hanging from random places and running around poles. Tallulah, being from an extremely affectionate species, is quick to invade someone's personal privacy... And make them feel uncomfortable. Some days clothes seem to be a bother for her so she wears none at all. She never really did at home, anyway. She's also rather ignorant of the hate of others. An 'I don't like you, leave me now' just makes her want to suffocate the person in a hug even more. Even then she'll quickly drop them to run over to a bobble-head toy to mimic its motions in awe. She truly is the queen of spontaneity.
Despite her seemingly one track, ditzyish mind she does possess a decent adaptive mind. She's quick to learn from a mistake through her non-human discoveries and can commit to memory pretty much anything. She loves everything and everyone and thinks laughter is like the coolest thing ever. Since she's a few centuries old she actually possesses a lot more intellect than people have accounted for. Her ability to synthesize information can sometimes out rule the raging spaz-ball within, as well as her maturity. True, she can act like a child, but she doesn't succumb to human temptation such as gossip and lying. She really does have a strong disdain in anything considered evil.
Maybe that will help her in the long run.
Birthplace: Somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico, called by her as 'Davy Jones' Locker'.
History: Are you familiar with the tales of the accursed bottom of the ocean, dubbed as Davy Jones' locker? Legend has it that sailors caught up in a shipwreck would be dragged under to their aquatic doom, as if it were hell on earth itself. Tied to this legend is also the tale of the maidens of destruction itself- Sirens. These sub-aquatic, beautiful women would sing a song of mystery and captivation, luring sailors onto dangerous waters and soon their deaths. Sirens come in all appearances, most recognizably human and indubitably gorgeous.
Tallulah's subspecies is not considered this.
Though not at all hideous, those who appeared like her were shunned entirely. Those beautiful sirens were nasty creatures. Who else would only kill off humans for sport and laughs, watching in glee as they sunk to the abyss? Yet, they were the most lusted for. Their beauty came at a sailor's price and their vanity was the iron fist placed upon the lesser sirens.
So what about them?
Tallulah's species, though welcoming of humans, never surfaced. As stated they were practically banned from the air by the 'greater' sirens. They were forced to live their inhuman life spans in the absolute darkness of the bottom of the ocean, unable to feel the warmth of the sunshine or the acceptance of others.
Of course, as most 'greater' sirens are, they were not intelligent enough to predict that humans will succumb to their ever expanding scientific minds. As the legends of the sirens decreased in popularity by those considered normal, the desire to hunt them down by those who were considered weird increased ever so much. Centuries flew by as the greater sirens retreated more and more into their lesser cousin's abyss. Despite their vengeance being completed the lesser sirens were faced with yet another problem- They had to deal with the greater sirens dominating them directly. Violence, tension, and corruption cumulated into one big war, one between two mythical races that prevails to this date.
Well, where does Tallulah come in?
As stated, Tellulah's subspecies possesses an inhuman life span. She herself has seen tensions between her people and her enemy since the dawn of the battles themselves. Her family has served as an indirect archive keeper of the human world above, as well as a partial royal family due to their expansive knowledge. So, in some technicality, Tallulah could be seen as a 'princess' of sorts (the title to her species holds no merit). Of course, they can only record what has fallen to the bottom of the ocean, though this hasn't kept them from being fascinated by the species. Their work had been accumulated for a few centuries, but all had been lost as of late. A few months before present time, the greater sirens had ransacked their beloved archives and destroyed all of their work. Enraged, Tallulah's father went out to war with his enemy, though ultimately met his demise by the form of a spear. Following the brief period of grief they faced, Tallulah was commissioned by her mother to honor her father by performing the task he had always wanted- to gather intel about humans directly.
Since the greater sirens no longer cared to bring down sailors from the surface, the gateway to the great beyond was open. With only a bag slung over her shoulder, a fixture over her gills and a goodbye hug, Tallulah set off to explore the human world. With relative ease she adapted quickly to the lighter pressures and dry air as if she had always belonged.
Of course, she didn't. Not soon after her surfacing she was captured by some mentally unstable theorists and thrown into the back of their mom's rickety van. Facing the threat of her species' exposure, she knew she had to get out of there. Fast. Since she was unaccustomed to modern day technology, the only way she knew to get out was to break something. She did. Using her skull to bash out the window, she made a run for it while her captors were distracted. Where she was going she did not know. Her sub-aquatic legs just took her as far away as possible. Her destination would have never been determined if it hadn't been for the bright lights of the circus that captivated her fish-level brain. As if in a trance she headed towards these lights, unaware that this circus would become the second home she had always wanted.
Occupation: School teacher- Yeah, she's insane, but hell she's more intelligent than half of the people here. Despite her appearance age she does best with high school and middle school aged children, though she absolutely adores small elementary schoolers.
Relationship status/Orientation: Her species does not possess a gender-based reproduction system. She really couldn't care less. For now, she's without a partner.
Additional information: Though most of her time is spent teaching, she does arrive on performances on occasion for moral support.
